Waxing

Waxing is an effective hair removal method where you can quickly and easily become hair-free….

What is waxing?

Waxing is a quick, easy and very effective method of hair removal as the hair is pulled from the root and the skin remains smooth for 2-6 weeks (depending on the growth phase and area of the hair). Waxing reduces hair growth and the hair usually becomes thinner and thinner after each treatment.

How long must the hair be?

The hair should be about 4-5 mm long for best results.

Keep in mind that all your hair grows in 2 different growth phases and if you have shaved for a longer period, it may be that it takes 2 wax occasions before you are in phase and get a smooth result.

Does it hurt?

Both yes and no. It feels different for everyone but the first time it can feel a bit more special Brazilian waxing. This is because the hair follicles are slightly hard and the hairs themselves are coarse and all the hairs are pulled out at the same time. Other times, waxing is less painful because newly formed hair follicles soften.

Considerations before and after

Do not remove your hair 3-4 weeks before waxing. The area to be waxed should be clean and free of oil/lotion/cream. If you are waxing your legs or arms, you may want to do a peel 1-2 days before the treatment. Avoid sunbathing just before and a week after; afterwards, you can protect yourself with sunscreen. Avoid showers and saunas for 12 hours after waxing.

It takes 24 hours for the follicles to fully close again after waxing, so during this time you should avoid exercise, chlorinated baths and saunas as sweat, heat (from saunas) and water can irritate the skin and lead to infections.
