What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an advanced, texture-enhancing treatment that optimizes cell renewal, smoothes the skin’s surface and enhances the effects of active ingredients that can be used afterwards.

Dermaplaning is done with a scalpel and is a form of mechanical, surface exfoliation where a rounded scalpel blade is used to remove the fine vellus hairs.

Dermaplaning can be performed on most skin types and skin conditions, but most commonly you treat coarse skin surface with dull skin, dry skin, skin with uneven pigmentation, skin with thickened horny layer, skin with acne scars can also be treated but also skin with fine lines.

Cancer, uncontrolled diabetes, use of isotretinoin in the last 6 months, blood-thinning drugs, inflamed skin or skin with active acne, sun and windburned skin, open sores active herpes virus on the face/mouth.

If you have been using isotretinion for acne or other strong dehydrating/exfoliating drugs, please consult with your doctor or us before booking dermaplaning.

3 days before the treatment, refrain from using products that may make your skin sensitive. These can be, for example, powerful retinol products, AHA/BHA exfoliants or iocally applied drugs.

Avoid IPL/Laser treatments or being unprotected/burning in the sun at least 2 weeks before your treatment.

5 days before the treatment, refrain from waxing or epilation and do not use hair removal creams on the area to be treated.

Do not shave the area on the day of the treatment.

Use a gentle cleanser, serum and moisturizing cream as recommended by your skin therapist.

Wait at least 7 days before doing any kind of waxing/treating facial hair. Avoid pulling on scaly skin.

Avoid being in direct sunlight with your face for at least 7 days. Protect the skin with at least SPF 30, physical factor.

Avoid activities that make you sweat (cardio/sauna) for the first 2 to 3 days.

Avoid skincare products with exfoliating ingredients such as AHA/BHA acids and retinol for the first 2-3 days.

If you need to use makeup (please refrain for the first 24 hours), use only oil-free mineral makeup and clean brushes and sponges.
